The festival of Lohri marks the suns entry in the Makar Rashi (Northen Hemisphere). It is celebrated every year on the 13th of January with great pomp in North India. Songs play a significant part on the Lohri festival as the celebrations are incomplete without them. A bonfire is lit in the evening, known as Lohri.
